Srinagar, Dec 16 : Amid intense cold conditions, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Tuesday forecast light snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir between December 18 and 21.
The MeT said weather will remain partly cloudy across Jammu and Kashmir on December 16 and 17. From December 18 to 19, a slight change is expected, with very light snowfall at isolated higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir, while most areas will remain cloudy.
Between December 20 and 21, the valley is likely to experience partly to generally cloudy weather, with the possibility of light snowfall in higher areas and light rain over plains during afternoon hours.
Cloudy conditions are expected to continue from December 22 to 28, offering some relief from the severe cold. Towards the end of the year, from December 29 to 31, cloudy weather with light snowfall over higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir is likely.
The MeT also warned of shallow to moderate fog at many places in the Kashmir division and at isolated locations in Jammu, cautioning that snowfall and freezing temperatures could lead to slippery roads. Travellers have been advised to follow traffic and administrative advisories.(KINS)
