Pulwama, Aug 6,: In a swift operation, the Kakapora Police in collaboration with the Food Safety Department destroyed approximately 350 kilograms of rotten and unregulated meat in the Lelhara area of Kakapora on Wednesday.
The meat, which was earlier recovered near Pampore Highway, was found to be unfit for human consumption. Acting promptly, authorities safely disposed of the contaminated stock to avert any potential public health hazard.
Officials confirmed that the disposed meat was in a highly decomposed state, raising serious concerns about its source and intended distribution. An investigation has been launched to trace the origins of the consignment and identify those responsible.
Local residents have welcomed the prompt action and called for stricter checks to prevent the circulation of substandard food items. Authorities have also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or illegal food-related activities in their respective areas. [KNT]
