ATM Fraudster Arrested in Bemina, 12 Cards Recovered: Srinagar Police

Srinagar, Dec 3 : Srinagar Police have arrested a fraudster in the Bemina area and recovered multiple ATM cards and a mobile phone used in the commission of the crime, officials said.

Police said a complaint was received from the Centralised ATM Department of Jammu and Kashmir Bank regarding repeated instances of ATM application and keypad damage. Acting on the complaint, Police Station Bemina registered FIR No. 116/2025 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

A special trap team was constituted in coordination with the bank’s ATM department, following reports that a particular ATM at JVC Bemina was being repeatedly targeted.

During the operation, the accused, identified as Irfan Ahmad Mir of Sanzipora Mawar Handwara, was apprehended while attempting to tamper with the ATM.

Police said twelve ATM cards of different banks and an iPhone were recovered from his possession.

The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway to verify the recovered cards and ascertain whether more persons are involved.
