Shimla, June 30: MLA Bandipora,Nizamuddin Bhat will participate in the first meeting of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Affairs (CPA) India Zone, scheduled to be held at Vidhan Sabha, Himachal Pradesh today.
The event, organised by the Parliamentary Secretariat of India aims to strengthen democratic practices, enhance legislative procedures and foster inter-state cooperation among Commonwealth regions.
The meeting is expected to be graced by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and Leaders of the Opposition, alongside speakers and chief whips from various state assemblies across India.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, MLA Nizamuddin Bhat highlighted that participation in such forums is crucial for sharing best practices, learning from experiences across states and working towards people-centric, transparent governance for the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
The Commonwealth Parliamentary Affairs initiative seeks to promote good governance, accountability and democratic values across Commonwealth nations, providing a platform for legislators to collaborate and address common challenges through dialogue and exchange of ideas.
