SRINAGAR 18 JUNE: The Department of English, Amar Singh College, organized a captivating “Story-Telling Contest” today to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s “Iron Man”. The event highlighted his life, struggles, and monumental contributions to India’s freedom movement and the unification of the country. 

Students and faculty members participated enthusiastically, presenting inspiring narratives on Sardar Patel’s vision, leadership, and relentless efforts in forging a strong, united, and modern India. Through gripping stories, the participants showcased Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in integrating princely states, his unwavering commitment to national unity, and his enduring legacy as one of India’s founding architects. 

Prof. Ishaq Ahmad Wani, Head, Department of English, Amar Singh College, commended the initiative, stating, “This event not only honours Sardar Patel’s legacy but also instills patriotism and a deeper understanding of India’s history among our students.” 

On the occasion, Prof. Basharat Shameem, member of the Debates and Seminars Committee, stated that initiatives like these strengthen the significance of honouring and learning from our national heroes who played a pivotal role in shaping India’s destiny. 

The participants of the contest earned praise for their creativity and depth of research. The Department of English expressed gratitude to all participants, faculty, and attendees for making the event a resounding success.
