Week-Long Virtual Event Equips Academics, Researchers and Students with Multidisciplinary Research Tools

SRINAGAR: The Department of English at Amar Singh College, Srinagar, in collaboration with Tamil Nadu’s Cape Comorin Trust and Harvest Journal, successfully hosted a week-long International Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Academic Writing and Research Methodology (Multidisciplinary)” from May 25 to May 31, 2025. The virtual event attracted dozens of researchers, educators, and faculty members from across India and around the world, fostering a dynamic exchange of knowledge aimed at advancing socially impactful research.

The FDP focused on empowering participants with advanced skills to conduct high-quality, interdisciplinary research in rapidly evolving academic landscapes. Its key goals included the Integration of multidisciplinary approaches into research design, enhancing competencies in academic writing, data analysis, and ethical publishing besides equipping educators to produce research with tangible societal relevance. 

The inaugural session commenced on May 25, with Prof. Ishaq Ahmad Wani, Head, Department of English, Amar Singh College, delivering introductory remarks. He underscored the FDP’s goal to empower educators and researchers with advanced tools for multidisciplinary academic excellence. Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Hakak, Principal, Amar Singh College, formally inaugurated the event through presidential remarks, highlighting the need for robust research methodologies in today’s evolving academic landscape.  One of the features of the FDP was the  dissemination of global expertise as fourteen renowned experts from diverse fields and institutions across India, Greece, USA, Ghana, Philippines, Iran, Serbia, and other countries led enriching technical sessions.

The technical sessions began on 25 May with a keynote presentation by Prof. Rania Lampou (Athens, Greece), a globally recognized academician, on “Crafting Research Proposals.” Throughout the week, technical sessions addressed diverse themes, including interdisciplinary research frameworks, ethical publishing practices, data analysis techniques, and digital tools for academic writing. Participants lauded the FDP’s focus on bridging gaps between theory and practice in research while acting as transformative platform for knowledge exchange. 

Prof. Basharat Shameem, Dr. Adil Zaffar and Prof. Tariq Ahmad Khan, faculty members at the Department of English, Amar Singh College adeptly moderated the inaugural and technical sessions, fostering engaging discussions.
