Baramulla, Aug 26 : An enquiry has been ordered into an incident where a police officer allegedly used disrespectful language with a doctor at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kreeri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
As per an order issued by the SSP Baramulla, on 25 August 2024 information was received by police station Kreeri that a male dead body had been brought to SDH Kreeri by locals and relatives of the deceased. It was not clear from initial information whether death was suspicious or attributable to natural causes. Parties from PS Kreeri swung into action to get further details about the matter.
During preliminary enquiry, it was discovered that locals and relatives of the deceased had taken the dead body for last rites and the medical team at SDH Kreeri were also unable to definitively inform police whether the death was suspicious or attributable to natural causes. Following this, police party rushed to the concerned village, enquired in detail, examined the body and concluded that since the deceased had been under long term care at Soura Institute and death was most probably- not suspicious.
It was later learnt that during the episode, SHO PS Kreeri talked in a disrespectful manner with Dr Jehangir Ahmad posted in SDH Kreeri which caused distress and anguish to Dr Jehangir. The matter was telephonically reported to the SSP Baramulla by various medical professionals who demanded stern action into the matter.
Following this, SSP Baramulla ordered an enquiry to examine the incident in detail, ascertain facts, recommend disciplinary action, and ensure that such an incident does not happen.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Baramulla, Syed Yasir Qadri, has been tasked with conducting the enquiry. The findings and recommendations will be submitted within three days. [KNT]
