Srinagar, Mar 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association [JKEEGA] has decried the suspension of Engineers in the Power Development Department.
The Association convened a meeting today and denounced the action of the Government in strong terms wherein engineers have been cherry-picked and suspended for no fault of theirs without assessing replies furnished by engineers who were served show cause notices.
Reminding the Government about reality, it was briefed that vast expansion of power network and assets required strengthening the power corporations by way of recruitment at lower levels and not suspensions, and same is seen as a setback to the morale of field engineers who have worked hard during tough times.
During the meeting, it was briefed that due to a lack of recruitment process, the engineers are overburdened. “Instead of setting the ailing network right, the engineers are being targeted and made scapegoats.”
It was said that the engineers are with the Government for loss reduction but loss reduction of huge magnitude cannot be curbed overnight and the same requires huge infrastructure changes including cabling at LT level as only smart meter installation can’t curb the power pilferage.
The Association demanded that revocation of suspended engineers within a week, failing which all the power engineers across J&K shall proceed on a day protest leave and assemble at PDD Complex Bemina and Gladini Jammu on 30 March.
