Shehr-e-Khass Traders and Manufacturers Coordination Committee seeks 2 years time, OTS scheme for traders

Srinagar, Sep 11 : Shehr-e-Khass Traders and Manufacturers Coordination Committee on Monday demanded a respected exit from the current notices being issued to the traders across the valley, seeking two years time for the traders to pay the debt.

Addressing a news conference here, Shehr-e-Khass Traders and Manufacturers Coordination Committee (SeKT&MCC), as per the news agency— (KNO), said that in case the demands are not fulfilled, they will hand over the keys of their business units voluntarily to the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir.

“A meeting was today held in which the issues pertaining to the traders were discussed, one of the main issues that surfaced was the notices being issued to the traders at different places,” the trade body said, adding that such activities need to be stopped forthwith as the traders seek immediate and respected exit from the situation.

“We want the authorities in the bank to stop issuing notices and take the traders on board to decide the issues with mutual understanding,” they said, adding that they have taken the issue of banks with the authorities in New Delhi while the meeting with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is also going to be held soon.

“At present, we have got some 3000-4000 cases from different corners. We are ready to talk with the higher ups. Besides, 2 years time should be given to the traders for paying the debt and also an OTS scheme should be implemented for the wellbeing of the traders,” they said.

The Shehr-e-Khass Traders and Manufacturers Coordination Committee further said that they want a solution into the matter and in case the demands are not fulfilled, they will voluntarily hand over their business units to the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir.
