Srinagar: The Department of Urdu, Amar Singh College successfully organized its Annual Urdu Mushaira, a poetic symposium that witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across disciplines. The event provided a platform for budding poets to showcase their literary talents and celebrate the richness of Urdu poetry.
The programme commenced with a melodious chorus rendition of one of Allama Iqbal’s famous poems by students of the Urdu Department, setting a reflective and inspiring tone for the evening.
In his welcome address, Prof. Mohammad Aslam, Head of the Department of Urdu, emphasized the importance of creative expression and encouraged students to explore Urdu literature and poetry as a means of intellectual and artistic growth.
Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Hakak, Principal of Amar Singh College, graced the occasion as the chief guest and lauded the efforts of the Urdu Department for organizing the Mushaira. He reiterated the college’s commitment in promoting literary and cultural activities and expressed hope that such events would continue to nurture young poets and writers.
The Mushaira saw students from various disciplines presenting their original poetry, captivating the audience with their soulful and thought-provoking verses. The event was attended by a large gathering of students, faculty members, and poetry enthusiasts, who appreciated the vibrant display of literary talent.
The stage proceedings were conducted by Dr. Javed, while Prof. Niyaz Ali delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and attendees for making the event a grand success.
