SRINAGAR 1 Sept: The Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly from Gurez Constituency, Mr Nazir Ahmad Khan, paid a surprise visit to Govt Higher Secondary School Purana Tulail (PTL) on 01.09.2025.
The visit was part of his ongoing outreach initiative to assess educational infrastructure, encourage student engagement and understand the challenges faced by schools in the region.
The MLA was warmly received by the Principal Mr Hashim Bhat, teaching staff and enthusiastic students of HSS PTL.
The Hon’ble MLA held a constructive interaction with the teaching and non-teaching staff.
Key issues discussed included:
1. Shortage of subject-specific teachers.
2. Need for construction of Auditorium.
3. Requirement for improved classroom infrastructure and laboratory facilities.
4. Internet connectivity for Smart Classes.
5. Construction of Boundary Wall.
The MLA assured the staff that their concerns would be taken up at the appropriate levels and emphasized the government’s commitment to improving education in remote areas like Gurez.
During his interaction with students, the MLA encouraged them to remain focused on their studies and make full use of the resources available to them. He stressed the importance of education in shaping a progressive and self-reliant society.
The MLA took a tour of the school campus including classrooms, science labs, library, and computer lab. He expressed appreciation for the efforts of Principal and staff in maintaining academic standards despite logistical challenges and assured that necessary steps would be taken to improve infrastructure.
