Budgam, Oct 23: Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti emphasized the need for reconciliation between India and Pakistan to put an end to hostility and incidents like Gagangir.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the family of a slain doctor in Budgam, who fell victim to the Gagangir attack, Mehbooba Mufti stressed that the people of Jammu and Kashmir bear the brunt of the enmity between the two nations.

She highlighted that incidents like Gagangir will continue unless there is reconciliation between India and Pakistan, citing the successful dialogue initiated during former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure as a model to follow.

She emphasized that the desire for peace isn’t just hers, but a collective aspiration of the people.

This isn’t the first time Mehbooba Mufti has advocated for peace between the two nations. Previously, she criticized the Modi government for failing to reach the visionary levels of Vajpayee, who had set a new course for resolving South Asia’s endemic problems. [KNT]
