Srinagar, Sep 28 (UNI) National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that he is confident that his party will form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
He made these comments while responding to a statement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah wherein he had taken a swipe at him by saying that Omar is dreaming about becoming the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Some people had tried to raise doubts in our hearts about our (NC’s) performance after the first two phases of Assembly polls. But now Amit Shah Sahab’s words have reassured me that we are leading. God willing, we will form the government after October 8”, the NC Vice President told reporters in the Tangmarg area, where he held a poll rally for the party candidate Farooq Shah who is contesting from Gulmarg assembly segment.
Gulmarg in North Kashmir is going to the polls in the third and last phase on October 1.
The election in union territory of Jammu and Kashmir is significant, being the first after the abrogation of Article 370.
The BJP is saying that it will form the government, while the opposition, including the National Conference-Congress alliance, is looking to regain control in the region.
