Residents urge authorities to cut overgrown vegetation
Ganderbal, Jan 18 : The tranquil village of Ganie Mohallah Fraw in Ganderbal is grappling with a rising concern as monkeys from the nearby forest invade, prompting local residents to abandon their homes.
As per the news agency— (KNO), over the past several years, a substantial number of these monkeys have infiltrated the village, seeking refuge near the power house and causing havoc in homes and fields.
Despite repeated pleas from residents to trim the overgrown vegetation around the power house, authorities have yet to take action.
The monkeys, now entrenched in the surrounding bushes and trees, not only damage crops but also pose a threat to fruit gardens, leaving the community in constant fear.
Especially vulnerable are women, children, and the elderly, who find it increasingly difficult to venture outside due to the escalating monkey population.
Urgent appeals are being directed to Wildlife authorities overseeing the power house to intervene promptly and implement measures to control the monkey invasion, ensuring the safety and peace of this local town.
