Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti has appealed to authorities not to play with the careers of students. She was referring to incidents related to NIT and SKUAST Ganderbal. At least 7 students have been booked by police for celebrating the defeat of India against Australia in the recently concluded World Cup final match.
Mehbooba’s daughter Iltija Mufti tweeted:“Kashmiri students booked under UAPA for merely cheering a victorious team. But zero action against a non-local for his mischievous provocation by sharing a video slandering our Prophet (SAW). No freedom of expression for Kashmiris but carte blanche given to those who mock Islam.” [KNT]
