Srinagar, Oct 24: Peoples Democratic Party leader Iltija Mufti Tuesday upbraided local administration for having a ‘prejudiced’ approach towards PDP. She said scores of party leaders including the General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura have either been house arrested or locked up in police stations. “We wanted to protest against Israeli aggression towards Palestine. Being a vibrant opposition party it’s our democratic right to protest but the local administration restricted us. It has now become a pattern to suppress the leaders of PDP and discourage them from holding any protest,” he said.
While addressing a press conference, Ilitija Mufti said that since 2019 PDP leaders are facing government onslaught. “Why others are being allowed to do what they want and we are being stopped,” she questioned.
She said the people of Jammu and Kashmir are closely associated with the Palestine cause and to show solidarity with the people of Palestine in Kashmir is not a new thing. “Let us not forget the official position of India. India has already condemned the Israeli aggression and if it is so then why protests are not being allowed,” she said.
In response to a question, Iltija Mufti said that the PDP also condemns the war crimes in Ukraine. [KNT]
