Srinagar, June 18 : Amid forecast for hot and dry weather till June 23, night temperatures saw a rise at most places, settling above normal across Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A meteorological department official here told GNS that mainly dry was expected even though possibility of \u201cbrief spell of shower and thunderstorm mainly towards late afternoon or evening cannot be ruled out\u201d. \u201cHot and dry weather likely to continue with maximum temperature over plains of Jammu likely to range between 38-40\u00b0C,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding outlook during June 24-26, he said, \u201cAs of now, there is likelihood of light to moderate rain with thunder\/lightning at scattered to fairly widespread places.\u201d
However, he said, overall \u2018no\u2019 forecast of any major rainfall this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 17.0\u00b0C against 16.0\u00b0C on the previous night and it was above normal by 2.2\u00b0C for the summer capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 13.6\u00b0C against 13.4\u00b0C on the previous night and it was above normal by 0.3\u00b0C for the gateway town of Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of 8.6\u00b0C against 9.4\u00b0C on the previous night and it was 0.1\u00b0C above normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir\u2019s Anantnag district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 13.6\u00b0C against 12.2\u00b0C on the previous night and it was 0.4\u00b0C above normal for the north Kashmir area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kokernag recorded a low of 14.2\u00b0C against 13.1\u00b0C on the previous night and it was 1.1\u00b0C above normal for the place, the officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gulmarg recorded a low of 10.8\u00b0C against 8.8\u00b0C on previous night and it was above normal by 1.5\u00b0C for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir\u2019s Baramulla district, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jammu recorded a low of 27.7\u00b0C against 25.9\u00b0C on the previous night and it was 2.2\u00b0C above normal for J&K\u2019s winter capital, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Banihal recorded a low of 14.5\u00b0C (0.3\u00b0C above normal), Batote 16.7\u00b0C (0.7\u00b0C above normal), Katra 24.8\u00b0C (2.7\u00b0C above normal) and Bhaderwah 14.6\u00b0C (above normal by 0.9\u00b0C). Ladakh\u2019s Leh and Kargil recorded a low of 6.9\u00b0C and 12.5\u00b0C respectively, he said. <\/p>\n
