Srinagar, Oct 1:<\/strong> Srinagar Police have claimed to have busted an organised inter-state narcotics network allegedly involved in the procurement, transportation, storage, distribution and financing of banned pharmaceutical drugs, arresting eight persons and making substantial recoveries of drugs, cash, gold and other valuables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The action followed the investigation into FIR No. 135\/2026 registered at Police Station Safakadal under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, Arms Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police, the investigation revealed a structured supply chain with linkages extending beyond Jammu and Kashmir. Eight persons have so far been arrested in connection with the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Waseem Zargar of Malik Sahib, Safakadal; Inam Ahmad Zargar of Haftiyarbal, Safakadal; Sahib Ahmad Ganie of Danamazar, Safakadal; Ansar Hussain Bhat of Zabar Mohallah, Budgam; Peer Shakoor of Palpora, Noorbagh; Haroon Tariq Pandit, Aquib Saleem and Haris Hameed Malla, all residents of Guzerbal, Chattabal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said Malla was traced through technical surveillance and apprehended from Bengaluru, Karnataka. The individual roles and wider linkages of the accused are being investigated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation has so far resulted in the seizure of 2,19,425 pharmaceutical tablets and capsules<\/strong>, besides 3.83 kg of codeine-containing liquid<\/strong> and around 40 grams of a heroin-like substance<\/strong>, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The haul also includes around \u20b985.75 lakh in cash<\/strong>, 108 gold coins, gold biscuits and other gold articles, two Rolex watches, a Dior handbag, a DSLR camera with lens, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, a .32-bore pistol with two empty magazines and a dagger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two vehicles have also been attached by the police in accordance with law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial trail under investigation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the financial investigation, police searched two bank lockers maintained in the name of accused Mohammad Waseem Zargar at Axis Bank, Bemina, following court orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The searches resulted in the recovery of around \u20b965 lakh in cash<\/strong>, along with gold coins, biscuits and other gold articles. Police have assessed the approximate value of the locker recoveries at \u20b92.20 crore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators have also identified and frozen multiple bank accounts linked to the accused and other persons under investigation. Around \u20b91.07 crore<\/strong> has so far been identified and frozen, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A residential house and two vehicles have also been attached under provisions of the NDPS Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said the source of the funds, transaction trail and related financial linkages are being examined as part of the probe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supply chain traced outside J&K<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The backward investigation into the source of the pharmaceutical drugs took police teams to Chandigarh, Panchkula and Ambala<\/strong>, where pharmaceutical establishments and transport agencies were examined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said invoices, bills, Goods Receipts and other documents were collected during the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discrepancies concerning drug licences, purchaser details, invoices, payment records and the functioning of certain establishments are being examined in coordination with the concerned regulatory authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators are also looking into the role of transport agencies allegedly used in the movement of the pharmaceutical drugs and are attempting to trace other distributors and beneficiaries linked to the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two accused absconding<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said two persons identified during the investigation remain absconding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have been identified as Faizan Firdous alias Farzan Khanday of Safakadal<\/strong> and Mohammad Shahvar Gaur<\/strong>, who was identified in connection with the pharmaceutical supply chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their precise roles and further linkages are being investigated, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital devices seized during the investigation are also being analysed to establish the complete procurement, transportation, distribution and financial chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said the investigation remains ongoing and further arrests, recoveries, freezing or attachment of assets and other legal action may follow on the basis of evidence emerging during the probe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Srinagar Police said it was focused on tracing and dismantling the wider network of suppliers, transporters, distributors, financiers and other alleged facilitators involved in the illicit drug trade.<\/p>\n
