Sewa Parv 2025, from September 17 to October 2, 2025, is a national festival of service, innovation and cultural heritage, inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a Viksit Bharat. Parallel to the government drive, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sewa Pakhwada 2025, a fortnight-long public engagement and welfare program, began on September 17, the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Modi. Combined, these initiatives constitute a historic mobilization of citizens, institutions and communities in a concerted effort towards national development and social welfare.

They are not symbolic gestures but constitute a core reimagining of citizen engagement in nation-building. They encapsulate the ethos that service to the nation is the greatest form of patriotism and that all citizens have a stake in forging India’s future. From Jammu and Kashmir to Tamil Nadu’s southern coast, millions of Indians have been involved in a wide range of activities from blood donation campaigns and health camps to cultural workshops and the protection of the environment.

Sewa Parv 2025 by Ministry of Culture is an attempt to unite communities, institutions and individuals in a collaborative movement of Sewa (service), creativity, and cultural pride. It is rooted firmly in the oldest philosophical tradition of India that considers selfless service as a spiritual practice and civic responsibility. The program duration, from September 17 to October 2, is also significant in that it includes the birthday anniversaries of Prime Minister Modi and Mahatma Gandhi, two figures who have underscored the need for public service and social change.

Perhaps the most groundbreaking feature of Sewa Parv 2025 is its focus on creative expression as a means for national development. One-day painting and art camps under the slogan “Viksit Bharat Ke Rang, Kala Ke Sang” (Colors of Developed India, Along with Art) were held by the Ministry of Culture at 75 major centers in the country. This reflects an understanding that nation-building is as much a process of creating a common culture and shared vision as it is one of building infrastructures and generating economic growth.

These workshops have been structured to involve people across the social spectrum in expressing their imagination of an emerging India creatively. Through democratisation of artistic expression and extension of its reach to students, working artists, and common citizens, Sewa Parv 2025 has facilitated space for conversation, imagination and joint dreaming about India’s future.

The level of participation in Sewa Parv 2025 has gone beyond what was imagined, proving the program’s popularity among the Indian people. Thousands of citizens took part on the first day alone in events held in several states.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow thousands of participants participated in a mega art workshop that was witnessed by the state Finance Minister and Padmashree awardees. In Vadodara, Gujarat, more than huge crowd of students and artists participated at two locations. In Jammu, the workshop gathered more than uncountable crowd participated in the presence of reputed dignitaries such as the Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University and the Divisional Commissioner.

The reach went to all corners of the country. Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, had about large gatherings of participants such as professional painters and students take part in painting competitions by senior painters and professors. Huge rush of people joined cultural instructors for interactive painting activities in Hyderabad, while Shantiniketan, West Bengal, had over a good crowd of participants engage in art workshops attended by Padmashri awardees.

Understanding the need for digital accessibility in contemporary India, Sewa Parv 2025 has adopted technology to make it more inclusive. The movement facilitated digital involvement with the Sewa Parv portal where institutions can register and post their events and individuals post their artworks, photographs and creative works. This digital dimension has transformed Sewa Parv from a series of local events into a truly national movement, allowing participation from remote areas and enabling citizens who cannot attend physical events to contribute to the national conversation about development.

Utilization of social media hashtags and online platforms also brought about a virtual gallery of aspirations of India, where millions were able to see and interact with creative works from all over the nation. This online collection will be a rich resource of how Indians of 2025 envisioned their country’s future.

To supplement the Sewa Parv initiative of the government, the BJP’s Sewa Pakhwada 2025 is a series of welfare activities such as health check-up camps, cleanliness drives, plantation of trees and provision of assistive devices. The fortnight-long campaign is the party’s commitment to converting political ideology to practical social welfare.

Sewa Pakhwada 2025 began with a state-wide blood donation drive on September 17, immediately establishing the program’s focus on life-saving service. Blood donation, often called the “gift of life,” sets the tone for a campaign that prioritizes urgent community needs.

The range of activities has been wide-ranging and inclusive. The BJP Mahila Morcha conducted health camps in Jammu in the run-up to the Sewa Pakhwada celebrations, aimed at addressing the access to healthcare for marginalized people. The party held a special felicitation program at its Jammu headquarters to identify and honor the courage, grit and contribution Divyang Jan (person with special ability), affirming commitment to mainstreaming development.

Young people’s participation has been specifically emphasized in the campaign. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha conducted Namo Yuva Run in different districts of Jammu and Kashmir under the current Sewa Pakhwada campaign to commemorate the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday by fusing health promotion with patriotic celebration.

The introduction of Sewa Parv and Sewa Pakhwada in Jammu and Kashmir is especially significant against the backdrop of the state’s special political and social environment. These programs are attempts to promote national integration, social welfare, and deepening democratic engagement in an area where there has been half a century of turmoil and political instability.

The attendance of senior government officials and cultural icons at these events indicates the administration’s seriousness in advancing the region’s social and cultural growth. These events provide platforms for beneficial interactions between citizens and administrators, which help in generating trust and harmony.

The BJP organized workshops in Srinagar to plan Sewa Pakhwada 2025, reflecting the party’s efforts to take welfare activities across the Kashmir Valley. Blood donation camps were held at Sub-District Hospital in Kupwara, reaching the farthest corners and ensuring key healthcare facilities.

The emphasis on grassroots implementation ensures that the benefits of these initiatives reach the most marginalized communities. By organising events in district and sub-district locations, both Sewa Parv and Sewa Pakhwada have made service and participation accessible to citizens who might otherwise be excluded from national-level programs.

The advantages of Sewa Parv 2025 and Sewa Pakhwada go well beyond the direct service delivered. They have ripple effects that enhance social cohesion, foster civic awareness, and hasten national progress.

By uniting individuals from various backgrounds, religions and communities in shared purpose, these projects enhance social cohesion. When a Hindu volunteer and a Muslim volunteer together donate blood, when a Kashmiri painter works alongside a Tamil painter, the unifying experience of service cuts across dividing identities and enhances national unity.

In Jammu and Kashmir specifically, where social trust has been worn away over decades of war, these activities provide opportunities for constructive engagement and common purpose. Service work provides arenas where communities can recover, come together, and form relationships around shared purpose and respect.

The provision of health camps, blood donation camps and assistive device distribution covers important gaps in the availability of healthcare, especially in remote and rural locations. These services can be life-saving for people with limited access to hospitals. Additionally, by performing health checks and awareness, these initiatives involve preventive healthcare and health education.

The emphasis on specially-abled individuals, as seen with the felicitation programme in Jammu, fosters disability rights and social integration. Through the celebration of Divyang Jan’s accomplishments, such programmes combat stigma and discrimination and motivate others with similar challenges.

The tree plantation campaigns organized under Sewa Pakhwada help preserve the environment and combat climate change. Every tree that is planted indicates a promise to the next generation and an acknowledgment of our duty to the earth. Sanitation drives encourage cleanliness and environmental consciousness in an attempt to solve the pragmatic issue of garbage disposal.

Sewa Parv’s focus on creativity and art has several goals. It revives the conventional art forms while promoting modern-day creative expression. It offers means for young artists while respecting veteran masters. Above all, it popularizes cultural participation, acknowledging that all citizens possess the potential for creative expression and that such creativity is beneficial to the country.

Both these initiatives focus on youth participation, acknowledging that youth are not just recipients of development but also change agents. Initiatives such as the Namo Yuva Run encourage fitness and health awareness while instilling civic pride. Youth involvement in service activity helps build leadership qualities, social consciousness and public welfare commitment.

The effective implementation of these state-wide initiatives indicates exemplary organisational coordination at more than one level of government, party organization, and civil society. The J&K BJP President serves along with the General Secretary (Organization) including all senior leadership, karyakartas and volunteers to preside over organisational meetings held at party headquarters to consider preparations for Sewa Pakhwada, indicating the senior-level attention devoted to planning and implementation.

Coordination of the Ministry of Culture with state governments, regional centers, schools and cultural institutions has established a well-functioning ecosystem for program implementation. Standard operating procedures, digital infrastructure, and transparency have facilitated seamless delivery across India’s large geographical and cultural expanse.

Both quantitative and qualitative measures would assess Sewa Parv 2025 and Sewa Pakhwada a success. Quantitatively, the figures are staggering: thousands of attendees in art camps, hundreds of health camps held, thousands of units of blood donated, tens of thousands of trees planted, and millions of citizens accessed through online portals.

Qualitatively, the contribution is even more profound. These programs have initiated discussions about citizenship, service, and national development in households, schools and communities all over India. They have shown that the state and political parties are able to reach out to citizens not as just voters or recipients but as equal partners in building the nation.

The cultural works produced during Sewa Parv works of art, paintings and creative ideas will be historical documents of how Indians in 2025 thought about the future of their country. These artifacts are more than beautiful works, they symbolise collective hopes and aspirations.

In spite of their achievements, these programs are challenged. Sustaining the momentum after the set celebratory periods means institutionalising service culture in everyday government workings and party work. Ensuring that welfare activity is shared among the most farthest-reached communities needs ongoing effort and focused outreach.

In Jammu and Kashmir, where political sensitivities remain, ensuring that service initiatives are perceived as genuine welfare efforts rather than political propaganda requires transparency, consistency, and authentic engagement with local communities.

The way to go is to transform these time-limited campaigns into permanent aspects of civic life and governance. Service can never be ad hoc but ongoing. Cultural engagement cannot be one-off but consistent. The digital arenas established for these efforts must become permanent places for participation by citizens and expression of creativity.

Sewa Parv 2025 and Sewa Pakhwada are more than winning government and party schemes; they represent a philosophy of development centered on service. They illustrate that Viksit Bharat is not about economic trends or infrastructural projects but about building a society in which service to others is cherished, creativity is enhanced, diversity is honored and every citizen has the chance to make a contribution to the common good.

Thousands of citizens who donated blood, planted trees, painted pictures, held health camps and engaged in cultural pursuits have all practiced this principle. They have shown that India’s future will not be constructed by way of official government policies or party manifestos but by the selfless service of countless common men.

In Jammu and Kashmir especially, where these programs have particular importance, the active participation attests to the fact that despite historical difficulties, the citizens are yearning for peace, progress, and integration with the national stream. That these programs have prospered in the state gives hope that welfare and service may construct bridges strained by politics and conflict.

As India heads towards its centenary year of independence in 2047, efforts like Sewa Parv and Sewa Pakhwada set the tone for the journey. They demonstrate that development is a process and not a destination, not a government venture but a people’s movement, not an external change but an internal shift. When millions of citizens pledge themselves to service, when culture and creativity are accorded the same value as economics and technology, when all citizens feel a sense of ownership in the future of the nation that is when Viksit Bharat will become a reality.

The success of these 2025 programs should give people confidence that India possesses the social capital, organisational ability and civic morale needed to realize its development goals. The onus now is to maintain this tempo, institutionalise the service culture, and see that the ethos of Sewa Parv and Sewa Pakhwada continues to inspire Indian society well beyond the official festivities. Doing so, India will not only be economically developed but will also inculcate the moral base required for genuinely sustainable and inclusive development.

ZAMAN
