SRINAGAR:<\/strong> In commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti, Amar Singh College today organized a district-level programme featuring competitions in the Debate, Quiz, and On-the-Spot Painting categories. The events marked the eve of Mahatma Gandhi’s 156th birthday celebrations, and were themed on Mahatma Gandhi’s core tenets of \u201cTruth and Non-Violence.\u201d The events were coordinated by the College Debates Committee in partnership with the NSS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme commenced with an inaugural address by Prof. Shahnawaz Muntazir, Programme Officer, NSS, who highlighted the national significance of fostering Gandhian values among students. A documentary chronicling Mahatma Gandhi’s life and struggles was also screened on the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The subsequent competitions saw enthusiastic participation from various colleges in Srinagar, with participating students eloquently advocating for the application of non-violence and truth to modern challenges. Students passionately discussed how Gandhian ideals can solve the contemporary national and global challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The First Prize in the Debating contest was won by Asma, a student at College of Education(IASE). Another student from College of Education(IASE), Rakshbahar, secured the First Prize in the Quiz competition, while Najma Khatun, a student at Women’s College MA Road, claimed the First Prize in the On-Spot painting competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The proceedings were moderated by Prof. Basharat Shameem and concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Mir, both members of the College Debates Committee.<\/p>\n
