Srinagar, March 27: Senior trade union leader Ejaz Ahmad Khan has expressed shock and concern over the fact that, despite only three or four days remaining until the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, salaries and wages for government employees, daily wage workers, temporary employees, ICDS workers, fair price shop dealers, and other laborers have yet to be disbursed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Ejaz Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC), the largest forum of employee associations, emphasized that since Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to be observed on either Monday, March 31, or Tuesday, April 1, depending on the sighting of the moon, it is imperative that the salaries of all permanent and temporary employees are released without delay so they can celebrate Eid without financial distress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ejaz Ahmad Khan further added, if salaries are released on time, it would boost commercial activity in the markets, benefiting businesses as well. He further noted that lakhs of employees and daily wagers, including daily wage workers, casual laborers, ICDS workers, and fair price shop dealers, are anxiously awaiting the release of their salaries, wages, and commissions so they can purchase essential household items, new clothes, and other necessities for their families, especially their children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The senior trade union leader stressed that releasing March salaries today or tomorrow\u2014on March 28 or March 29\u2014instead of the first or second day of the following month would not have any significant impact on the government or the treasury. However, it would bring immense relief and joy to lakhs of employees and laborers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ejaz Ahmad Khan appeals to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to ensure the release of salaries and wages for all government employees, daily wage workers, temporary employees, ICDS workers, fair price shop dealers, and other laborers by March 28 or March 29, considering the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his statement, the senior trade union leader also made a heartfelt appeal to affluent individuals and employees, urging them to slightly reduce their Eid expenses and extend financial assistance to underprivileged families so they, too, can celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with happiness and joy alongside everyone else.
