Srinagar, July 1 (UNI) National Conference Vice President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the new laws being implemented on Monday have much more room for misuse than the earlier laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omar said while reacting to the registrations of FIRs by the Police in Kashmir valley under the \u2018Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita\u2019 law which came into existence Monday replacing The Indian Penal Code (IPC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are apprehensions about these new laws\u201d, Omar told media persons in Srinagar on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omar said, \u201cEverything happens first from Jammu and Kashmir and then the rest of the country feels the effects.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He warned that shortly they would have to see the repercussions of these laws as these laws have a lot of space for misuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c No law is bad in itself. The problem lies in the way the laws are used. However, the laws that are being implemented today have much more room for misuse than the earlier laws. We have usually seen whenever the governments get an opportunity, they misuse the laws,\u201d Omar said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omar said they had hoped that after the Parliament elections, the new government would review these laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut it has not happened. This government is not of the BJP as they could not get the absolute majority. It is the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government at the centre and we hope that the constituents of the government will again think on these laws,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said these laws that have been created by the \u2018humans\u2019 can be changed and there is a need to rethink them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omar said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that elections will take place in Jammu and Kashmir and a new people\u2019s government will be formed. \u201cAnd then we will find out where these laws are implemented,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
