Officials say decision taken in view of limited power availability<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Srinagar, Apr 22 :\u00a0<\/strong>In the existing \u2018unscheduled power cuts and power outages\u2019 Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) Monday said that there will be further increase in power curtailments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DISCOM said that the step has been taken in view of limited power availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking to microblogging site X, KPDCL said, \u201cDue to limited power availability, there has been an unavoidable increase in power curtailment. These restrictions will be eased once power availability improves. Please bear with us & ensure judicious use of power, especially during peak hours. Avoid exceeding sanctioned load\/hooking.\u201d (SIC)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, locals from almost all districts of Kashmir valley contacted KNO saying that the power issues in Kashmir have never been good.  \u201cAdding the extra curtailment to the existing power schedule will be a mockery of the power availability.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe power supply is already at the worst level and adding more curtailment will be nothing but a mockery of the power availability and to the people,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The locals from many areas of north and south Kashmir said that they are facing frequent power outages and distress cuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, KPDCL Chief Engineer (Distribution) Sandeep Seth said that the company was yet to chart out the final schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are charting out the final power curtailment schedule and will take a call accordingly,\u201d Seth said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On asking the reason for the extra curtailments, Seth said that the distribution company was bound to distribute the only power which they get from the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know the reason for the extra curtailment. However, we will continue to distribute the amount of power we have available,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top official of the Power Development Department (PDD) said that the power generation is the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs of now, the power generation from local resources remains the same,\u201d the official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
