Srinagar, Apr 3 (UNI) National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that there was something fishy about Ghulam Nabi Azad\u2019s contesting polls from Anantnag- Rajouri Lok Sabha seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) on Tuesday announced that Ghulam Nabi Azad, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, will contest the Lok Sabha election from Anantnag -Rajouri constituency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c.. I am quite surprised that Azad Sahab has chosen to fight from Anantnag-Rajouri- Poonch. I would have thought that if he was that keen to enter the Parliament he should have fought the election from his bastion. His strength is believed to be Chenab Valley. I would have thought he would have fought from Udhampur seat. The fact is that he is not fighting from Udhampur and he is contesting from Rajouri-Poonch, clearly there is more than meets the eye, Omar said while talking to media persons on the outskirts of Srinagar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the saying goes \u201cDaal mein kuch kaala hai\u201d, he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NC Vice President said he could not say as to what can be the reason and under what pressure Azad is fighting from the Anantnag-Rajouri seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhoever contests, we have fielded one of our best candidates for the people as Mian Altaf .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whosoever is contesting against him, we hope that Mian Altaf will win the elections with a thumping victory\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Azad reacted to Omar saying, “this is my state.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It will be wrong to say either I belong to here or there. I belong to Hindustan. When Omar was a little kid and studying in a school\u2026I fought the first, second and third elections in Maharashtra ….Saying why he fights from here or there. I would like to tell them that Ghulam Nabi Azad can fight the elections from Maharashtra where nobody was known to me and won from there also, ” the DPAP Chairman told media persons on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Chief Minister said that he was not coming in the way of anyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I have my own political vision, my own way of fighting which I was fighting in Delhi as well as doing here. Some leaders would be disturbed with me\u2026what can I do ..I cannot leave politics for any leader, “the former Congress leader said.<\/p>\n
