Srinagar, June 2 : Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked five individuals under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for their continued involvement in activities deemed detrimental to national security.

The accused, Nayeem Ahmad Khan of Panthachowk, Faizan Akhter Bhat of Khanyar, Mehraj Ud Din Bhat of Pandach, Umar Hamid Sheikh of Hazratbal, and Suhaib Shafi Baba alias Chamna of Rainawari, are all residents of Srinagar.

Police said the five were linked to proscribed militant outfits and had multiple criminal cases registered against them. Despite receiving bail earlier, they allegedly persisted in unlawful and subversive activities.

Police said that detention orders were secured after thorough dossiers were prepared, and the individuals have been lodged in district jails in Kathua, Udhampur, and Kot Bhalwal. [KNT]
