Srinagar, Mar 22 Nearly two weeks after a boy and a girl jumped into the Jhelum River near Uri in north Kashmir, their bodies, which had drifted into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), were returned to Indian authorities by PoK officials in the border town.

On March 5, the boy and the girl, from Uri, had jumped into the Jhelum River. While authorities have been searching their bodies, they were not retrieved.

On Thursday, the boy’s body was spotted in the Jhelum by rescuers, but due to strong currents, it couldn’t be retrieved, and it reached PoK.

The authorities in Uri came to know later that both the bodies have been found in POK.

On Saturday, the POK authorities handed over the bodies to the officials in Uri.

“The medical legal formalities are underway, and the bodies will be handed over to the families,” said an official. (UNI)
