Srinagar, Dec 6 : A mosque and three residential houses were gutted in a fire incident in Khanyar area of Srinagar city, an official said.
An official from the Fire and Emergency Services told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that three structures and a mosque have suffered damage in the fire incident.
Quoting local sources, the official said that a fire broke out from the mosque after the Friday prayers that spread to adjacent structures.
The timely action from the firefighters, local police, and locals prevented the fire from spreading to other houses. “It is a congested locality. Thankfully, the fire was put out in time, but still three houses and the ‘Gousia Mosque’ suffered damage in the blaze,” said a local.
A police official said that a case will be registered to ascertain the cause of the fire. [KNT]
