Fire & Emergency Services rebuts baseless allegations for late arrival at Chattabal blaze

Srinagar: At least four goods stores were gutted in a massive blaze that broke at Pindchi Mandi area of Chattabal in Srinagar on Monday.

The fire erupted in one of the stores used to stock clothes, merchandise, and various items earlier this morning. Despite swift action to contain the fire, four stores were damaged.

Incharge of the Fire and Emergency Department, Srinagar City  Noor Alam said in a statement issued to “Asia Speaks” which reads, JK Fire Service control room received call at around 12:09 pm that fire has broke down in Pindchi Mandi near Tatoo ground Srinagar. Immediately fire tenders were deputed to the site but due to heavy traffic jam it took around 5-7 minutes to reach there. Fire spot was around 1km away from main headquarters .Traffic obstacle was an issue but somehow managed and reached spot within time and did needful work with around 8-9 tenders on job, reads statement.

He added, baseless allegations regarding late arrival has been circulating on social media but Location with time (Geo tag) photos clear all doubts. Photos showing fire team has reached there at around 12:17 that is exactly after 5_7 minutes after receiving call.
